Animation and Character Design - Portfolio Showcase
K12 AI Labs: Module 4, Lesson 13
Portfolio Showcase gives students the opportunity to step back, curate, and present the creative work they've built throughout the Animation and Character Design unit. This is more than a show-and-tell—it's a structured process of reflection, selection, and professional presentation that mirrors what designers and artists do when assembling a real portfolio.
Students begin by reviewing all of the work they've produced across the unit and making intentional decisions about what to include, what to revise, and how to frame each piece. They develop an artist's statement that explains their creative process, the choices they made, and what they learned about working with AI as a design tool.
The showcase itself is structured as a peer presentation experience, with students sharing their portfolios and receiving structured feedback. The format encourages genuine engagement with each other's work and builds the kind of constructive critique and communication skills that matter in creative fields.
The lesson also addresses the growing importance of portfolios in creative career pathways—how designers, animators, and media professionals use them to demonstrate capability and growth, and what makes a portfolio stand out.
Students leave with a curated portfolio artifact, a written reflection, and the experience of presenting their creative work to an audience.
ISTE Standards 1 and 7 aligned.
