Does the K12 Learning Store issue official credits or transcripts?

Courses purchased through the K12 Learning Store do not issue official credits or transcripts. K12 Learning Store does not assign or track grades, credits, or academic progress. Families are encouraged to print the available grade book at the end of the course. While automated quizzes will have grades, parents can assign grades and create a transcript for their child, depending on their state’s homeschooling policies.

Can I record courses purchased from the K12 Learning Store in my child’s homeschool records or portfolio?

Yes. You may include courses in your child’s homeschool records or portfolio. It is recommended that you document your child’s coursework, projects, hours completed, learning outcomes, and grades in a way that aligns with your homeschool approach and state requirements. Familiesare also encouraged to print out work samples if required bytheir state.

How do homeschool parents typically track the progress or completion of Learning Store courses?

Homeschool parents commonly track progress by keeping notes on lessons completed, assignments or projects, time spent learning, skill mastery, and grades. These records can be kept digitally or in a homeschool portfolio and used to reflect a student’s learning over time. Families should review their state’s homeschool requirements to understand specific documentation requirements. The student’s module dashboard will also show the current progress on the platform.

What documentation should I keep for K–12 homeschool requirements in my state?

Homeschool requirements vary by state. Most families keep records such as attendance records, coursework summaries, samples of student work, grades, and progress notes. Families are responsible for maintaining these records and should review their state’s homeschool guidelines to determine what documentation is recommended or required.

I’m new to homeschooling—how do credits, grades, and transcripts usually work?

In homeschooling, parents typically act as the school administrator and maintain their child’s academic records. This may include tracking coursework, assigning grades, maintaining work samples, and creating transcripts or portfolios when needed. K12 Courses purchased through the K12 Learning Store are designed to support parent-directed learning, not replace parent-managed recordkeeping.

Does the K12 Learning Store determine whether a course meets my state’s homeschool requirements?

No. The K12 Learning Store does not determine or verify whether a course meets individual state homeschool requirements. Families are responsible for reviewing their state’s homeschool laws and determining how K12 Learning Store courses fit within those guidelines.
