Interactive Media and Creativity - Organizing Ideas with Notion AI
K12 AI Labs: Module 6, Lesson 22
Organizing Ideas with Notion AI introduces students to AI-assisted thinking and productivity tools that are already widely used in professional and academic environments. Through hands-on practice with Notion AI, students explore how artificial intelligence can help structure notes, generate outlines, and improve the clarity of written content—then develop informed judgment about when that help is actually helpful.
Students begin with a straightforward challenge: taking a complex, messy set of notes and trying to organize them without any tools. That baseline experience makes the value—and the limits—of AI assistance immediately clear when they repeat the task with Notion AI.
From there, students work through structured exercises that explore Notion AI's core capabilities: summarizing long content, generating outlines from rough ideas, suggesting improvements to drafts, and organizing information into structured formats. They evaluate each output critically, asking whether the AI's organization actually reflects the ideas or just imposes surface-level structure.
The lesson builds metacognitive awareness about how students think and organize information. Students identify which parts of the organizational process they want AI support for and which parts they want to keep human—developing a personal framework for AI-assisted productivity.
Students leave with practical experience using one of the most widely adopted AI productivity platforms and a more deliberate approach to using AI tools in their academic and creative work.
