2nd Grade Social Studies
2nd Grade Social Studies provides a broad introduction to social studies and builds a foundation for future learning.
Students develop map skills, using features such as scale, direction, and location to read maps and draw conclusions. These skills are applied to explore the physical and human features of their community, state, country, continent, and the world.
Students deepen their understanding of chronology and explore the past using historical sources to learn more about themselves and their communities. They study influential people in history, including leaders, inventors, and trailblazers, and discover cultures both around the world and within their own communities.
Students also learn basic economic concepts and personal finance principles, understand the role of government, and explore how citizens contribute to their communities.
